No Major Purpose

I haven't posted anything for a few days and figured I might as well.
It has been an alright week here in Beaverton, rather warm which makes life in an un-air-conditioned apartment rather... toasty? I find it is difficult to sleep next to my beautiful wife in the heat, but the extra body heat is worth it, she is so amazing. We did get the luxury of enjoying the complex pool last night. We also got new neighbors. They have a daughter who is around 2 I think, and has a set of lungs on her.

I just signed up for a class today (I know, he graduates college and signs up for a class the very next fall). This class has some purpose though: I need it in order to be ordained. It is also something that will help me in my work for the Free Methodist denomination. I get to learn about the theology of John Wesley beginning in September. I would be interested to see what some think of the Wesleyan tradition (Haak, if you want to research, go right ahead!), needless to say, the though and thrill of taking more schooling excites me. Maybe these classes will count towards a future Masters degree? Time will tell.

Thinking about this class and my previous post regarding the theological quiz, it makes me wonder: how much do you know about the Church you are part of? On the quiz there were some pretty confusing questions and others were just ones not everyone is informed regarding, like a man I thoroughly disagree with. I noticed one person's result put them in the Emergent Church category. I am a tad leary of this new wave in its core beliefs, that has nothing to do with theology, just a different way to think in my belief system.

It is also important to know where we come from in our belief system. D Lo made a comment that he was surprised I wasn't more Pentecostal in my beliefs. I did come from that background, but I have learned so much from so many different Churches and Christian practices that I can't say I lay claim to any one denomination. I challenge each of you to examine where you have come from in your Christian background (or non-Christian background). By doing this, you will (hopefully) embark on a journey of not just believing because that is what you have always done, but believing because you know. The most important tool anyone could use in figuring out what they believe is, of course, the Bible. If you don't have a Bible, let me know, I will get one to you. Read it, know it and believe it.

K, I found the test and took it and it said that I was classical liberal, but the desctiption it gave is not true about what I believe at all. It gave me that answer even though I tied another one. I doubt that the results of this test shoud be taken too seriously.
