My Dad!

My dad is coming! My dad, the man who hates cities, is flying here! It all started this Sunday night. Becky has been home on bed rest because of some bleeding. It culminated at 3 am. We thought she miscarried, the doctor thought she miscarried and told us to get an appointment early the next day. We were crushed. We had basically told ourselves that we had lost the baby, that it was over and we were just utterly crushed. The next morning we just existed, we were so drained and sad we didn't know what to do. We had called our families and told them all that was happening. We were scared and didn't know what to do. We went to the doctor, Becky was getting an ultrasound and the doctor confirmed our fears. She said Becky had passed most everything in the night, and we had lost the baby. We were crushed. The doctor said she saw something and was moving the thing all around looking for it. Becky thought something else was wrong, I didn't know really at all. After about a minute, she showed us our baby, it was still alive and the heart was just beating. Becky has a tilted uterus, and the baby was in the back, hiding. God, in all of His splendor and omniscience and omnipotence protected our baby. He taught us we need to rest in Him and wait in Him. Our own understanding is nothing compared to His (Proverbs 3:5-6, if anyone memorizes it, a Blizzard is coming your way). So Becky now is doing well, and we know what things to expect, but our baby is safe! GOD ROCKS! No other explanation besides God in all of this.

So, back to my dad. He has always been a "tough man." He's not super touchy feely, or overly emotional. But he has cared, and he's awesome. I love him and couldn't have asked for a better dad. He called us today, left messages (we slept in, we were quite tired) saying he was calling to check in on us. When we finally connected with him, he told me he's coming to stay with us! He is coming the 20th, going bowling with Satellite (he'll kick some booty, used to be part of a league) and staying with us until the Sunday following! I'm stoked for you all to meet him. This just shows how awesome God is. Not only is my wife still pregnant, but my dad is coming to see us!

Above is a picture of my parents and I at my college graduation, and right beside is my dad with a walleye he caught this year, it's a pretty big walleye! Some of you might remember my mom when she came awhile ago. She's not able to come this time, though she really wants to. She still sent us a plant though (I love plants), so we will look at the plant and remember her! I love my parents, they are just awesome!
